Rock Children's Ministry

Kids matter to God.  At The Rock, we'll help your kids meet Jesus as kids.

Each week we create an environment that uncovers how great God is, and how your child can follow him.

1st - 5th Grade  |  Summer break til Sept 10
Sunday mornings include singing, teaching, projects, games, memorizing Bible passages, and more. We’ll help your child experience God’s story and make it their own.

Toddler - Kindergarten  |  Sundays @ 9 & 10:30am
Trained staff and volunteers share Jesus in a number of age-appropriate ways including stories, crafts, and games. Busy Bags are also available for your child to take into church. Just pick one up at The Rock.

Quiet Room for Parents with Infants  |  Sundays @ 9 & 10:30am
A quiet room is available for parents with infants. Worship is streamed in via TV.

What to Expect
Check-In – Check your child in at the entrance to the mountain. Look for the big banner that says “The Rock.” If it’s your first time we’ll take a few moments to get your information and answer questions. We’ll also take your cell number or give you a pager so we can notify you if you’re needed.

Ministry Time – Kids open with a time of worship. Birthdays and special events are celebrated. Afterwards they’ll break into age-appropriate classes where they’ll learn Bible stories, do crafts, and practice memory. Our leaders and volunteers are screened and pledge to care for your child in a safe environment with attention given to their individual needs.

Pick-Up – Children 7 and older will be dismissed once The Rock is finished. Please pick up children 6 and younger at the mountain as soon as the service lets out.

Special Events
Each month typically features a field trip, special event, or service project like hosting Halloween and Valentine’s Day parties at local assisted living facilities, singing in church, The Rock Soup Kitchen, a Christmas PJ party, and an annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Bible Boot Camp, a week-long day-camp designed to teach the basics of Christianity and devotional practices meets each July.

BIBLE BOOT CAMP FAQ

What is Bible Boot Camp?

Bible Boot Camp is an interactive camp where kids learn about Jesus and what it means to follow him!  If focuses on fostering spiritual growth and disciplines, building leadership and confidence, and developing team work and community.  Bible Boot Camp is a week-long adventure where kids meet Jesus as kids!

When is it?

Monday, July 17 - Fri, July 21, from 09:00 - 11:30am.

Check-in opens daily @ 8:30am.

What ages?

Pre-K - 5th grade (entering in the 2017-18 school year)

6th – 8th graders can serve as a junior officers, high school & adults as officers.

What can I expect?

Expect to meet others!  Each child will be put in a platoon with 8-10 others.  Kids will work, learn, eat, play, and overcome challenges with their team.   Together they'll build a base camp (and have to defend it!), have devotions in their camp, march & memorize Bible verses, learn cool cadences to help them stick, and compete against other squads in a variety of challenges, including an epic game of capture the flag on 20 acres!

Squads are made up of a variety of ages, led by a squad leader in junior high or high school.  We've come to find that the older kids love building into the younger kids as they learn about following Jesus together, with the result that friendships often form across typical grade barriers.  Are you bringing a friend?  We'll do our best to keep you on the same squad!

Expect to meet Jesus!  Bible Boot Camp is designed to instill the basics.  Children will be introduced to who Jesus is and what it means to have a relationship with him.  They'll learn about what it means to serve just as Jesus came to serve.

Expect to get dirty!  A lot of Bible Boot camp takes place outside, even if it's raining, not to mention slip n' slides, water balloons, obstacle courses, and running around on hot sweaty days.  Come prepared.

What if my child can't make all 5 days?

Children will get the most out of the experience if they attend all five days as lessons and team challenges build upon each other throughout the week. But even if you have to miss a day or two, it's better to miss some than all.

What should I bring?

1)    Wear your uniform T-shirt. You’ll receive it on the first day.  Enlistees are encouraged to wear them throughout the week, but we understand if you don't want to do laundry every day!

2)    Dress to get wet and dirty.  Portions of Bible Boot Camp take place outside, even if it's raining, and there are water events too.  Even though there's water, please do not bring swimsuits.

3)    Flip-flops are fine, but there will be a lot of running around, so we encourage shoes.

4)    Snack-pack “MREs” and plenty of drinks will be provided throughout the day. If you can bring a water bottle with your name on it that is helpful, but it isn’t necessary.

How much does it cost?

  • Pre-register through July 9th to receive a discounted "signing bonus."  $30 for the 1st child and $60 for a family.
  • After July 9th: $40 for the 1st child and $80 for a family.
  • First-time Bible Boot Camp attenders are free!

How do I enlist?

Online registration just ended, but you can register any morning at Bible Boot Camp or at FOF on Sunday.

Can I volunteer?

Yes. Junior high students can serve as junior officers.  High school students and adults can serve as officers.

All ages needed to help with set-up, tear down, construction, registration, mess hall, obstacle course, and younger childcare.
